A song from a musical I didn't finish about Lev Thermin, the Russian inventor responsible for the Etherphone/Thermin. Lev lived in NYC in the thirties, but was kidnapped by the KGB, brought back to Russia, and forced to spend the rest of his life designing weapons for the soviets. His muse in New York was Clara Rockmore, one of the few virtuoso players of his instrument. In the musical, Lev sings this song to Clara after hearing her play the Thermin for the first time.
Audio available soon:
There are songs in the air, sweet Clara
They're waiting for you
To wave you hands through
There are songs in the sky, sweet Clara
They're waiting for you
To give them their start
So dip your fingers into the ether
And let them drip over my heart
There are songs in the sky, sweet Clara
They're waiting for you
They're waiting for you
There are songs in the sky, sweet Clara
They're waiting for you
To set them apart
So dip your fingers into the ether
And let them drip over my heart
