Nice New Orleans vibe on the drums by Aaron Thurston. Great solo by Roy. If the "Blue Idiots" had stayed together we would've followed this acoustic blues sound.

Well if you make it down to Tennessee Can you kiss a pretty girl for me She said she’d meet me by the side of the river Wearing nothing but what God give her

Well she made me a hat of straw I wore it all the way through Arkansas But it fell apart in Carolina Then it was out of sight and out of mind yeah

Well I’ve looked good and I’ve looked hard I’ve been a man and I’ve been a dog Been all those thirsty things So ‘scuse me for livin’

Well I made fast work getting out of that rut Cause even your alarm clock hated my guts And I made it out of there before I met the business end of a 2x4

But sometimes I miss you baby Sometimes I miss you on nights like this Sometimes I miss you wishing On all the stars of West Texas

Well I’ve looked good and I’ve looked hard I’ve been a man and I’ve been a dog Been all those lucky things So ‘scuse me for livin’

Have you heard about rain clouds baby? Well they move in from off the coast I know all about rain clouds baby And I look like I’ve just seen a ghost

So if you make it down to Tennessee Can you kiss that pretty girl for me? And if you make to the end of the block Well buddy you’ll be standing in my spot

Listen here: studio version

Boy you must be crazy If you think that I don’t love you like I say I do ( like I say I do ) When the night comes through my window You’re the only one I wanna lay next to (wanna lay next to)

Well we might have to feed it with a spoon But I swear our love it is not doomed I swear our love is not doomed

Boy you must believe me When I say that I will be there when I say I will (when I say I will) When the light comes through my window You’re the only one I wanna see there still (wanna see there still)

Well it might be breathing through a tube But I swear our love it is not doomed I swear our love is not doomed

So stop saying you cannot stay So go and throw those thoughts away

Well it might be staying off solid food But I swear our love it is not doomed I swear our love is not doomed

Version 2:

Girl you must be crazy If you think that I don’t love you like I say I do ( like I say I do ) When the night comes through my window You’re the only one I wanna lay next to (wanna lay next to)

The windows are dark, and doors are all locked

But I swear our love it is not lost

Girl you must believe me When I say that I will be there when I say I will (when I say I will) When the light comes through my window You’re the only one I wanna see there still (wanna see there still)

The man came around and we paid the cost

But I swear our love it is not lost

So stop saying you cannot stay So go and throw those thoughts away

The flowers will grow up from the frost

I swear our love it is not lost

I wrote these lyrics about the infamous female pirate for the band Nanuchka. Madame Ching was featured on their 2006 album ‘Mediterranean’.

Her shadow drowned my twin Her keys don’t fit the locks she just breaks in In the belly of a boat they salt the skins It’s creeping up the coast

With closing eyes they watch The faces of unusual clocks The pennies lose their shine and fill the socks They’re walking on their toes

Sorrow comes in twos Perfect sized hypocrite shoes Tomorrow’s no one’s friend You turned me over to them

For this ride The men all lose their teeth and curse the time The men all lose their memories of wine It’s somewhere down below It’s somewhere down below

The phones are always ringing off the hooks The heavy lifting’s all paid off the books The mermaids know the language of the crooks Sometimes they need a tow

Sorrow comes in twos Perfect sized hypocrite shoes Tomorrow’s no one’s friend You turned me over to them
